- Lester M. Blodgett, 71
Lester M. Blodgett, 71, of Stone Quarry Road, R.D. 1, Richland, former Town of Orwell highway superintendent, died Saturday, April 28, 1984, at his home, following a long illness.
Born Nov, 28, 1912, son of Miles and Lilly Hilton Blodgett, he married Marion Ruth Palmateer on April 23, 1932. She died March 31, 1971.
Mr. Blodgett was employed by the Town of Orwell highway department for 40 years. He was elected to serve as highway superintendent from 1958 to 1964, and again from 1970 to 1976.
He was a member of the Orwell Union Church.
Surviving are two sons, Alton (Pete) Blodgett, Williamstown, and Miles Blodgett, Orwell; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Trumble and Mrs. Shirley Halsey, both of Orwell; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Harold Blodgett, Orwell, and a sister, Mrs. Whiting (Decile) Hilton, Orwell.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 1, at the Foster Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with Rev. Stanley Tanner, pastor of Orwell Union Church, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.
