- March 11, 2007 Edward B. McLaughlin, 66, of Central Square, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at home. Born in Oswego, he lived in New Haven before moving to Central Square over 40 years ago. Ed retired in 1999 from Mutual of New York as a computer systems specialist after 33 years of service. Ed was a member of Caughdenoy United Methodist Church, Oswego County Soil and Water Commission, a past member of the Central Square Village Board and was involved in both the Central Square Recreational Little League and Central Square Boy Scout Troop #734. Ed was an Army veteran and also enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp in Saranac Lake. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia, in 2005 and is survived by a daughter, Maureen of Portland, Maine; two sons, Daniel of NYC and Ryan of Syracuse; three sisters, Peg Battles of Central Square, Pam Ellis of Buffalo and Liz Duell of Lebanon, Maine; and two brothers, Dennis of Liverpool and Charley of Baldwinsville. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Caughdenoy United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at WATSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 631 S. Main St., Central Square. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY, 13088-6148.
