Albert L. "Jake" Gayne, 89, Norwich, formerly of Watertown, died Monday in Norwich.
There will be no funeral. The body was donated to the State University of New York Health Science Center, Syracuse.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Connie Gaines, Norwich; a granddaughter; three brothers, Arthur, Black River Road, Floyd, Pulaski, and Vernon, Watertown and Dunedin, Fla., and a sister, Mrs. Evans (Margaret) VanAlstyne, 384 N. Colorado Ave.
Born March 9, 1903 in Carthage, son of Floyd and Louise Staie Gayne, he graduated from Watertown High School.
He had worked for the former St. Regis Paper Co., Deferiet, now Champion International and then International Talc Co., Gouverneur.
He married Christine Schneider in Watertown on Aug. 22, 1935. She died in May 1957. It was his second marriage, the first having ended in a divorce in 1934.
He was a member of the Gouverneur Lions Club and Gouverneur Knights of Columbus and was an umpire for Little League and high school baseball.
