      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 28, 1938 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Richland, April 28 - George H. Mellen, 85, retired grocer of Syracuse who died there Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Michael Mackey, will be brought to this village for burial Friday afternoon. He had conducted a grocery business in Syracuse for more than 30 years prior to his retirement several years ago. He was a native of Sullivan, Ohio. His daughter and three grandchildren survive him. Prayer service will take place from the Mackey home Friday morning at 11:30. Funeral will be held from Christ church, Richland, at 2 o'clock the same afternoon with burial in the Richland cemetery.

      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, May 4, 1938 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ on Friday afternoon for George H. Mellen who passed away in. Syracuse at the home of his daughter on Wednesday morning at the age of 86 years. Mr. Mellen was an old resident of Richland, formerly being baggage agent at the New York Central Railroad station for several years and before that he operated a general store here. About 30 years ago, moving to Syracuse to operate a store there. His only near relatives are his daughter and three grandchildren.
