Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 2, 1885 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - South Richland District - In the last week’s Democrat we noticed that Mr. William Rockfellow, of Holmesville, had moved to the salt road, with his son Andrus, and that his health was failing. Scarce had these items reached the press before the Master, for whom he was waiting, said “it is enough, come up higher.” Tuesday evening, June 23d, not far from nine o’clock, the death angel bore his weary spirit over the river and left with the loved ones who have done so much to relieve his suffering and to make his last days happy and free from care, only the lifeless clay. He was one of South Richland’s oldest inhabitants, having reached the age of three score and ten years. He leaves an only son and two daughters and an aged and very feeble wife in the care of this son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. A. Rockfellow. May there be kind and loving hands to deal as gently and kindly with them when their hair is turned to gray and their steps are faltering, as these are and have been to this aged father and mother. The funeral at the house on the 26th was attended by Rev. N. M. Caton. Mr. William Glass, of Mexico, took charge of the remains which were buried in the Gillespie grounds. Mr. and Mrs. John Tickner, of Phelps, Ontario County, Mrs. Rockfellow, of Syracuse, and Mrs. Van Dresen, of Oswego, cousins of deceased, were present at the funeral.
