Pratt A. Balcom, 82, of Pulaski, passed away peacefully on Wednesday.
Born on May 24, 1933 to Pratt N. and Margaret (Adelmann) Balcom, Pratt graduated from Pulaski High School Class of 1951. He served with the US Army from 1953-1956 with the Security Agency. Pratt retired in 1990 as Assistant Vice President and Manager of Chase Lincoln Bank in Pulaski, where he obtained pre-standard and standard certificates as well as numerous graduate courses from American Institute of Banking. Pratt was a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of Pulaski Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce for over 30 years and a member of many community volunteer organizations and fund raising events. He is past Master of Pulaski Lodge #415, F. & A.M., and District Deputy Grand Master of the Oswego District. Pratt was a member of Pulaski Chapter R.A.M. and past High Priest member of Pulaski Grange #730. He was a 60 year member of Park United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader and Past President of United Methodist Mens. He was also involved with bible studies and other committees and groups within the church. Pratt was also a member of Pulaski/Sandy Creek Ministerial Association as well as Pulaski Community Ministries where he also served on the Board of Directors. Pratt married Leah Kearney on July 24, 1976 in Bridgewater, Maine. She passed away in October of 1998. Pratt was remarried to Louisa Walker on November 26, 2005 in Pulaski, New York. She passed away in January of 2014.
Pratt is predeceased by his son Kenneth Pratt in 1977 and sisters Margaret Moore, Edith Frary, Beverly Genter, and Katherine Parkinson. He is survived by his son Andrew Balcom; step sons Bruce, Tim, and Doug Walker; brother Stephen Balcom; sister Alice Ward; grand daughter Ashley Balcom; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Park United Methodist Church in Pulaski with Pastor David Hayes officiating.
