Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 2, 1885 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died at Daysville, New York, February 28, 1885, V. R. Dean, aged 64 years. Mr. Dean was born in Onondaga County, May 10, 1821. He lived in Daysville for many years and gained a large circle of friends. He espoused the cause of Christ in 1883 and united with the Methodist church in Daysville after which he gained many more friends for no one made his acquaintance but to respect and esteem him. He was an earnest and faithful Christian, a kind and indulgent husband and father, amiable in disposition, beloved by all who knew him. During his protracted illness he was cheerful, patient and enduring. Kind friends watched over him with untiring love, smoothing, as far as possible, the pillow of death. A short time before his death, he conversed with his children at bedside. His words were full of admonition against the neglect of God. He expressed an earnest wish that they would prepare to meet him in that better land, where there is no sickness or death. The funeral was held at the church in Daysville. Services were conducted by Rev. N. M. Caton, assisted by Rev. C. E. Beebe. His funeral was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends. He leaves a wife, and eight children who keenly feel their loss. One married daughter and four married sons.
