James F. Fahnestock

James F. Fahnestock, aged 89, former resident of Pulaski passed away on November 29, 2014, in Sun City Center, Florida where he had been a resident for the last several years. James was born May 25, 1925, in Oswego, the son of James and Katherine King Fahnestock. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1943. He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy in 1945 receiving a BS degree. James served in the United States Navy from 1947 until 1949. He graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1951 with his second BS degree in Math. He then went on to obtain his Master's degree from Syracuse University. He married Carol Fisher on June 30, 1974. James began his teaching career at Liverpool High School. He went on to teach math at Sandy Creek Central School for 25 years, also was a school bus driver and Math Department Chairperson, retiring in 1978. He owned and operated Fahnestock Fabric Store in Pulaski; he also owned and operated Fahnestock's Water with his son, Tom. James was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Parish, Charter Member of Bernard Gregg Knights of Columbus, and he was a Charter Member and Coach of the Liverpool and Pulaski Little League. He was a past member of the Pulaski Board of Education. While in Sun City Center, James participated in many clubs and activities within the Sun City Community.
Surviving are his wife, Carol; two sons, James (Tess) Fahnestock of Texas, Thomas (Robin) of Pulaski; two daughters, Theresa (William) Reusswig of Tennessee, Sandra Daly (Mike Sacco) of Pulaski; one stepson, David (Michelle) Orr of North Carolina, 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. James was predeceased by one son, Bruce, who passed away in 1969.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, at Christ Our Light Parish, 23 Niagara Street, Pulaski. Arrangements by Foster Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski.
