Robert E. Wart, 92, a resident of Pulaski, for the past 75 years, passed away Saturday. Robert was born December 6, 1920, in Syracuse. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1938, and he attended Syracuse University. Robert served in the United States Navy during WWII, from 1943 until 1945, as a water tender second class. He married Frances Olmstead on June 3, 1950; she passed away May 17, 2004. Robert was employed by Conrail as an engineer for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He also owned and operated R.E. Wart Insurance Agency for many years. Robert was a member of the Pulaski Park United Methodist Church, Robert Edwards Post #358 American Legion and Masonic Lodge #157 in Pulaski, Shrine Media Temple Society, Mad River Club, Pulaski Odd Fellows, Pulaski Historical Society and Half Shire Historical Society. He was also a member of the Pulaski Water Board for 40 years. Surviving: one son, Robert J. (Martha H.) Wart of Barrington, RI; two daughters, Anne F. Wart of Pulaski and Joan Wart Olmstead and her husband Timothy P. Whitehouse of Poolesville, MD; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with a spring burial in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
