Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, October 2, 1890 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Salmon River - Mrs. Emily Whipple had a shock of paralysis, and died the following Friday, aged 81 years and 5 days. Mrs. Whipple's maiden name was Emily Gates. At the age of twenty years, she came from Winfield, Herkimer county, to the town of Richland. At forty years of age she was married to the late Winsor Whipple, a widower with six children, five of whom are living. She had one child, a son, Frank G., of the town of Albion. She was a sister of Sewell T. Gates, of Pulaski, and Robert Gates, of Holmesville. Mrs. Whipple experienced religion at an early age and united with the M. E. church. She always lived a consistent Christian life. Her funeral was held on Sunday last, at the residence of her son, Frank, Elder Clark, of Orwell, preached the funeral discourse.
