- yron Orvis, 82, died at the home of his son, Percy Orvis, Sunday, October 13, 1929, after a short illness.
Mr. Orvis was the son of Horatio Orvis and Marie Pettit Orvis, and was born in the town of Leray, Jefferson County, August 16, 1847. Besides his son, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. John Riley, of Lacona, N.Y., and Mrs. Ward Dawley, Mexico N.Y.
For fifty years Mr. Orvis was engaged in farming at Lacona until about two years ago when he retired from his labors and had since made his home with his son, Percy, two miles north of Mexico.
Funeral services were held from the home of his son Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Edward Carpenter, M.E. minister, of Lacona, officiating. Interment was made in the Wesleyan cemetery at Lacona. The bearers were D. Morton, Clarence Morton, Roy Morton, and George Southworth.
