- ALEXANDRIA BAY - Marguerite M. Mance, 96, lifetime resident of Alexandria Bay, died Monday morning at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, NY.
Marguerite was born in the town of Alexandria on April 24, 1914, the daughter of Mason and Ula Snow Hubbard. She graduated from Alexandria Bay High school and married Ernest J Mance, Jr. February 6, 1933 at St. Cyril's Roman Catholic Church in Alexandria Bay, with Fr. Armond Dusault officiating. Mr. Mance died September 13, 2003. She and her husband owned & operated Mance Marine Basin Marina in Alexandria Bay. She was a member of St. Cyril's Alter & Rosary Society, Ladies golf league and a 64 yr. American Legion Auxiliary member. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, and spending time with her family on their Island in the St. Lawrence River.
She is survived by two sons, Ernest Mance III, Alex Bay, NY, and Paul & wife Joy Mance, Boone, NC; two daughters, Jane & husband William Northup, Palm City, FL, and Joy, & husband Thomas Tucker, Benson, NC. A son James Mance, Rochester & a daughter Judith Gionet, Alex Bay died before her. She is also survived by two brothers Harold & Howard Hubbard, Pulaski, NY. A sister Roberta Hager, Mexico, NY and a brother Donald Hubbard, Pulaski, NY predeceased her.
Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 5-8 at Costello Funeral Home. A memorial service will be announced in the spring.
