C. Fred Goodsell, 101, Fernwood, retired proprietor of the Goodsell Feed and Grain Store, died Thursday in Oswego Hospital after a brief illness.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Donald A. Easton, pastor of Fernwood United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Northern Oswego County Ambulance, Pulaski, or to Donald McFee Ambulance, Mexico.
Surviving are two sons, Louis C. and Harlan F., both of Fernwood; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Glenn L., Tequesta, Fla.
Born in Fernwood on Nov. 15, 1887, a son of Charles and Mary Addington Goodsell, he was a graduate of Pulaski High School, class of 1909, and was the oldest alumnus of the school.
He married Grace A. Geer July 2, 1913, at the home of the bride's parents, Fernwood, with the Rev. L.D. Dunning officiating.
Mr. Goodsell owned and operated the Goodsell Feed and Grain Store in Fernwood until his retirement in April 1978.
He was a member and trustee of Fernwood United Methodist Church. Mr. Goodsell was also a charter member of the Fernwood Grange and past president of the South Richland Cemetery Association.
Mrs. Goodsell, a former teacher in the Wood Pratham District schools, died May 17, 1978. She was 85.
