Newspaper Obituary - Monday, February 24, 1997 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Alma G. King, Retired School Secretary - Alma G. King, 81, of 306 Garden City Drive, Mattydale, formerly of Pulaski, died Saturday at her home. Mrs. King was a secretary at Riordan Elementary School in the North Syracuse School District for 24 years, retiring in 1983. She lived in Syracuse and Pulaski for many years before moving to Mattydale in 1954. She received the New York State School Secretary of the Year award in 1977. She was employed by the Civil Service Employees Association, Onondaga Local 834, East Syracuse, from 1983 to 1991. She was a member and trustee of Malden Road United Church of Christ and a member of the Comfort Tyler Daughters of the American Revolution chapter, both in Syracuse. She was a retired member of CSEA Local 834 and a member of the Take Off Pounds Sensibly chapter in Mattydale. Born July 26, 1915, at Camden, daughter of James and Martha Flagg Green, she married Paul G. King on June 14, 1941. He died January 20, 1975. Surviving are a son, Dale, Cicero; a daughter, Paula A., Mattydale; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster-Flax Funeral Home with the Rev. Rowann MacEwan officiating. Spring burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Malden Road United Church of Christ and 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the United Church of Christ, 108 Malden Road, Mattydale.
