Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 5, 1940 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Fernwood, December 5 - Charles Lewis Goodsell, 87, resident of Fernwood for 55 years, died Thursday morning at his home after an illness of eight weeks. He was born in Troy in 1853 and in 1885 married Miss Mary Addington, of Paris, New York, and later in the year moved to Fernwood. He at first conducted a general store here, and in 1896 operated a mill and feed business, which he has conducted since. His son, C. Fred Goodsell, has been associated with him for the past 30 years. Surviving are two sons, C. Fred and Glen L. of Syracuse, and four grandsons, Harlan of Fernwood, Lewis of Watertown, Robert of Syracuse and Richard with the National Guard at Fort McClellan, Alaska. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the family home with the Rev. George M. Butler, of Taberg, former pastor of the Fernwood Methodist church, and the Rev. Ellis Richards, present pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Willis cemetery.
