He was a carpenter for Local 747 in Syracuse. A son, Charles, died in 2000. Survivors: His wife of 21 years, the former Nancy J. Rucker; a daughter, Patricia Mellinger of Clay; two sons, David of Pulaski and Art of Mattydale; two step-daughters, Deborah Rucker of Columbia, South Carolina, and Sharon Rucker of Lugoff, South Carolina; two step-sons, Vance and David Rucker, both of Columbia; his mother, Hazel Hellinger of Pulaski; three sisters, Martha Mellinger, Janet Larison and Doris Pierce, all of Pulaski; a brother, Harold of Nashua, New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren.
