Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 17, 1970 The Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Hannibal - Mrs. Lillian R. Gates, 44, of Peat Bed Road, died yesterday at State University Hospital, Syracuse, following a long illness. A native of Annsville, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie Mae Braley Lewis. She attended schools in Mexico and on October 18, 1953, she married Glenn Gates in Camden. They resided in Parish until 1963 when they moved to Hannibal. She worked as a waitress until she and her husband bought a restaurant in Hannibal. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Fulton. Surviving besides her husband are a son, Rusty Gates; five brothers, William, Herbert and Robert Lewis of Pulaski, Donald Lewis of Syracuse and John Lewis of Martville; five sisters, Mrs. Adeline Vincent of Mexico, Miss Ellie Lewis of Fulton, Mrs. Dorothy Gorton of Pulaski, Mrs. Beverly March of Memphis and Mrs. Carol Marley of Fulton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Taylor-Vida Funeral Home, 7343 Jefferson Street, Pulaski, the Rev. Edwin Potter, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
