- Newspaper Obituary - Watertown Daily Times (NY) - March 2, 2000 Watertown Daily Times - RUTH C. GREGORY AFRICAN VIOLET GROWER - Ruth C. Gregory, 82, formerly of Pulaski, died Tuesday night at Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego, where she had been a patient since 1993. Born Dec. 17, 1917, in Florence, daughter of Avery and Fanny Richardson Towsley, she attended schools in Camden. She married Reuben Gregory in 1935 at All Saints Church, Fulton. The marriage ended in divorce. Mrs. Gregory enjoyed raising African violets and was a candy lover. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Louis (Beverly) Mosher and Mrs. Ralph (Connie) Oberton, both of Watertown, and June Russell, Old Forge; a son, Donald, Pulaski; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Leroy (Pat) Branhan, Fort Smith, Ark., Mrs. Barry (Thelma) Moot, Pulaski, and Mrs. Richard (Lois) Mosher, Great Bend; four stepsons, John Trumble, VanCleave, Miss., Louis Gregory, Richland, Walter "Larry" Gregory, Pulaski, and James Gregory, Mexico; four sisters, Jenny Thomas, Williamstown, Mrs. Gordon (Beverly) Ross, Gambrills, Md., Mrs. Harold (Margaret "Peg") McMahon, Sackets Harbor, and Mrs. Kenneth (Gladys) Thomas, Watertown; two brothers, Richard Towsley, Pulaski, and Vernon Towsley, Boonville; 33 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Five sisters, Harriett Thomas, Anna Miner, Lucy Renwich, Frances Bowers and Dorothy Wartup, died before her. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at TLC Funeral Home. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Seaway Lanes Junior Bowlers.
