- Newspaper Obituary - February 11, 2006 Citizen's Voice, The & Sunday Voice - Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania - Helen Kennedy Bennett February 9, 2006 - Helen Kennedy Bennett, 83, of Kells Way, Ashley, died Thursday at her home. She was born on Feb. 12, 1922, in Newark, N.J., and was raised in Wilkes-Barre. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Kennedy Bennett. Helen was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1944. She was a registered nurse at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for many years and also worked at Retreat State Hospital and Coatesville TB Hospital. She was a local choir member and former member of Forty Fort Presbyterian Church. Helen volunteered her time to the Association for Retarded Citizens and was a volunteer nurse during Hurricane Agnes. She devoted herself to the care of her son, James. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus Lewis Jescavage; daughter, Paula Bennett Jescavage; brother, Richard Bennett. Surviving are daughters, Karen Jescavage-Bernard and her husband, John, Croton, N.Y.; Janet del Rosario and her husband, Bartolome, Marlboro, N.Y.; son, James Bennett Jescavage, a guest of Valley Crest Nursing Home. Private funeral services and interment will be held in Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m., at M.J. McLaughlin Co., 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Association for Retarded Citizens, 183 Market St., Suite 102, Kingston, PA 18704.
