Veronica M. (Vern) Riley, 84, of East End section of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at home. Born March 25, 1919, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Slovinski Jescavage. She was educated in Sacred Heart School, Plains Township, and resided in Wilkes-Barre most of her life. She was a member of Holy Saviour Church, Wilkes-Barre. She also was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, Holy Saviour Quilters, and Reginas of King's College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Riley; sister, Joanne Welgus; and brothers, John, Chester, Joseph, Ted, Frank Jescavage.
Surviving are daughter, Mary Jane Ciarmatori, Mountain Top; son, Patrick J. Riley, Edwardsville; five grandchildren; sisters, Irene Martin, with whom she resided; and brother, Daniel Jescavage, Plains Township.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 at Holy Saviour Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
