      Newspaper Obituary - Friday, July 29, 2016 Salmon River News - Pulaski, New York - James S. Edwards, 93 of Pulaski, passed away July 17, 2016 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. Jim was known in his community as a kind, generous and fun loving gentleman. He was born October 4, 1922 in Bridgehampton, New York, son of the late John and Caroline Hedges Edwards. He graduated from Bridgehampton High School. He was a World War II Veteran and served in the United States Navy from 1940-1946. He served on the U.S.S. Boise as Chief Fire Control Man and on the U.S.S. Lake Champlain, having seen action in the Mediterranean and the Pacific. Jim was a plank owner in the U.S.S. Lake Champlain. He owned J.S. Edwards Hardware Store in Pulaski for 28 years and was a car salesman for 26 years, most recent for F.X. Caprara Car Company in Pulaski. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alice Edwards and his second wife Catherine Powell and a son James Edwards. He is survived by one daughter, Susan Jones of Boston, a granddaughter, Catherine (Benjamin) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a great-grandson, Thomas Keating of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to Pulaski V.F.W. Post #7289 at 4815 Salina Street Pulaski, New York 13142.
