    • Newspaper Obituary - January 24, 2006 Syracuse Post Standard - Syracuse, New York - Lyle M. "Speedy" Balcom - January 21, 2006 Lyle M. "Speedy" Balcom age 84, of Pulaski, died Saturday at the VA Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on May 11, 1921 in Pulaski, the son of Charles and Leona Lighthall Balcom. He attended Pulaski schools and served in the US Marines from 1941-45. He was a self-employed bricklayer for 32 years retiring in 1977. He was a member of Lakeview Golf Club in Mannsville, Robert Edwards Post #358 American Legion and a life member of VFW Post #7289, Pulaski. Surviving are one son, Jack Balcom; one daughter, Theresa Balcom both of Maryland; one sister, Shirley Hort of Pulaski; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He is predeceased by one daughter, Lee Ellen Balcom. Spring graveside services. Arrangement by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski.
