- Patricia Potter Obituary
Patricia Ann Potter (Elkin) of Orwell, NY, passed away after a courageous fight on June 16, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 83. She was born on April 25, 1942, in Rome, NY, to the late Earl and Marjorie (LaCelle) Elkin.
A proud graduate of Sandy Creek Central School, Class of 1961, Patricia cherished many years spent in Melbourne, Florida, where she resided for 15 years. An avid traveler and swimmer, she loved exploring new destinations throughout her life. In her later years, Patricia found great joy in observing the birds and flowers that filled her backyard.
A devoted partner to her husband, Milferd, Patricia worked alongside him in their many family-owned businesses. She also served as Postmaster Relief at the Orwell Post Office for 14 years and volunteered as Treasurer for the Oswego County Fair.
Patricia is predeceased by her parents, Earl and Marjorie Elkin; her sisters, Jean Taplin and Elaine French; and her sons, John and James, and daughter, Katherine.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Milferd; daughters Loretta (Ken) Owens and Valerie Potter (Mayo Aswan); and her cherished grandson, Jonathon Trump (Adrienne Becker), who brought immense joy to her life.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Half-Shire Historical Society, located at 1100 County Route 48 in Richland. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Orwell Fire Department in Patricia’s memory.
