Robert J. Fitzgibbons Sr., age 84, resident of Pulaski since 1970, formerly of Oswego, passed away Thursday at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego. Robert was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Oswego, the son of William and Marie LaGoe Fitzgibbons. He graduated from Oswego High School in 1950 and served in the Naval Reserve from 1951 until 1958.
Robert married Mary Ann Trenca in 1952. She passed away in 1977. He married Barbara Bellows on Sept. 17, 1994. Robert was employed by Schoeller Technical Papers for 23 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Park United Methodist Church in Pulaski and a former Trustee for two terms.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara, a daughter, Ann (Barry) Hayes of Belleville, four step-daughters, Debbie Bellows and Laurie Egan, both of Pulaski, Gayle DeLong and Kristy Gage both of Fernwood, and three grandchildren, Kara, Kyle and Joseph. Robert was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Fitzgibbons Jr., who passed away July 20, 2013.
Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park St., Pulaski, with a spring burial in Riverside Cemetery, Pulaski. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the funeral.
