- Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, May 27, 1997 Salmon River News - Frank Ostrander - Frank Ostrander, 77, of Constantia, died May 16 at his winter home in Pompano Beach, Fla. Born Nov. 6, 1919 in Pulaski, the son of Dan and Nettie Ostrander, he received the Silver Star for destroying a pill box single-handed in Germany during WW II. He was deputy sheriff from 19471952. He owned and operated Sunset Bay Inn in Constantia from 1952-1980. He then worked for Morgan Bagley as an electrician until his retirement in 1981. Surviving are his wife, Winnie (Stewart); son, Frank Ostrander of Camden; daughter, Julie Maxwell of , Sisters. Ore.; one brother, Kenneth Ostrander of Pulaski; three sisters, Ruth Welle of Canada Lake, Jane Barney of Johnstown, and Dorothy Endsley of Rcdfield; also six grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
