      Gilbert B. Smith, 58, of Warren, Ohio, died recently after an illness of several months. Born in Parish, he resided in Fulton for many years. He served in an Army airborne division in the Philippines in World War II. He was a member of the Fulton VFW Post and the Royal Order of Cooties. Surviving are his wife, the former Cora DeMott; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Hron of New Orleans, La., Mrs. Frances Cughan of Fulton and Mrs. Eleanor Groesbeck of Martville; two sons, Ronald and Patrick Smith; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Cooper of Fulton.
      Services were held at the Young and Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Donald Turk pastor of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial with full military honors, was with full military honors, was in Fairdale Cemetery.
