- Ruth Naomi Crouse Price, RN, 86, a resident of the Sheatown section of Nanticoke, passed into eternal life peacefully at Birchwood Nursing Home on Thursday, July 14, 2016, to reunite with her Lord and her beloved husband, John, with whom she shared 62 beautiful years of marriage.
Born Oct. 29, 1929, in Wanamie, Ruth was the eldest of three children born of the late Thomas and Clara Mills Crouse.
Ruth was a graduate of Newport High School, Class of 1947, and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1951. While in nurse's training, Ruth met the love of her life, John Price. She was an industrial nurse at the General Cigar Corp. in Nanticoke until their closing in 1971.
A faithful Christian, Ruth was a member of the former United Methodist Church, Alden. Active within her church, she was a member of the Administrative Board and superintendent of the Sunday school. Ruth was instrumental in coordinating and leading the Sunday school program and played the church piano. Ruth loved attending services at the church until its closing in June.
She loved swimming, reading, playing cards, gardening, bowling, teaching a multitude of neighborhood kids to swim for many years and socializing with her neighbors and friends.
Family was the center of Ruth's life and she treasured every moment she had with her loved ones and friends. Her three grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie and Rachel, were the light of her life and she held a special bond with each one of them. Ruth and her husband, John, enjoyed visiting their grandchildren, as well as participating in everything the grandchildren took part in during their lives.
Although Ruth's presence will be missed, she will forever be remembered for her compassionate personality, her gift of listening, sharing, and her strong faith and love of God.
In addition to her parents, Clara and Thomas Crouse, and her husband, John, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Tom.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Tamrus Price, Nanticoke; and Nancy Giampietro and her husband, Joseph, San Antonio, Texas; a son, Blake Price and his wife, Kathy, Mountain Top; three grandchildren, Michael Giampietro and his wife, Adrienne, San Antonio, Texas; Stephanie Price, Philadelphia; and Rachel Price and her fiancé, Alan Lucarino, Harveys Lake; a sister, Nancy Maga and her husband, Alfred, Sheatown; as well as her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and Birchwood Nursing Home for their diligent care and kindness in the care of our mother.
Relatives and friends may join the Price family for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke. The Rev. George Price will conduct a service at 7 p.m.
Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's name to the Wounded Warriors supporting our veterans or the Mill Memorial Library, 495 E. Main St., Nanticoke, PA 18634.
