      Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Schaible, 92, of Lafayette, died at 12:20 a.m. February 12, 2013, at Westminster Village, Lafayette.

      She was born December 19, 1920, in Hammond, to the late Maynard Harrison and Mary Ann (Beckett) Smith.

      She married Ernst Lennox Schaible in December 1942 in Hammond and he preceded her in death in 1986.

      Mrs. Schaible was a 1938 graduate of Hammond High School and attended Monticello College for Women in Godfrey, Ill. She was a homemaker and travel agent. She started traveling in 1958 with her husband and traveled extensively throughout the world. After his death, she continued her travels. She was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church, over 50 year member of Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, member of the Thursday Club, and was known as Miss Witherfield in the Pickwick Club.

      She is survived by a son, David Smith (Patricia) Schaible, of Danville, Calif.; three daughters, Sara C. (Chet) Hickox, of West Kingston, R.I., Mary Ann (John) Lee, of Frankfort, and Elizabeth "Liz" (Henry Gueron) Schaible, of New York City; eight grandchildren, Russell Hornback, Tracy Duddy, Seth Hornback, Marcus Schaible, Jason Schaible, Ryan Hickox, Wesley Hickox and Alexander Gueron; and five great-grandchildren.

      Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at the St. John's Episcopal Church, 600 Ferry St., Lafayette. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

      The family asks that donations be made to the St. John's Episcopal Church or the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette. Goodwin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
