- Howard Richard "Dick" Himes Sr., 66, of Phoenix, died Saturday, Sept. 20 at home after an illness of several months. Mr. Himes was born in Fulton and lived in Syracuse before moving to Phoenix in 1957. He retired after 32 years as a carpenter for Pass & Seymour Inc. in Solvay. Afterhis retirement, he worked part time for TriState Auto Auction in Cicero. Mr. Himes was a Navy and an Army veteran and a former member of the Phoenix Police Department. He was a member of Enterprise Fire Department, Phoenix, and VFW Post 5540, Phoenix. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, the former Marjorie Eno; four sons, Howard Jr. of Pennellville, Steven of Phoenix, Rodney of Baldwinsville and Gary of Clay; two daughters, Karen Frega of Clay and Sharon Harper of Birmingham, Ala.; his stepfather, Francis Good of Syracuse; a brother, Jack of North Syracuse; three sisters, Cora Wright of Boynton Beach, Fla., Margaret Venute of Solvay and Donna Bradbury of North Syracuse; eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were Wednesday at Allanson Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix. Rev. Scheffler of the First Congregational Church officiated. Burial was in Chase Cemetery, Lysander.
