Mrs. Helen B. Parker, widow of the late Horace Parker of blessed memory "fell asleep in Jesus" at Orwell, Tuesday, Dec 8, 1914. She was born in the town of Orwell, Jul 21, 1836, being the youngest daughter of Frederick and Lucy Cogswell Burkitt. Her father was among the first settlers of the town, and thus experienced hardships of clearing the forest and making the wilderness a place of habitation. Mrs. Parker was married to Horace Parker in 1856. One daughter blessed their union, Mrs. Orville Stowell of Richland, who with four grandchildren survives. Mrs. Parker had been in precarious health for several years and during the past few months she suffered intensely from nervous breakdown and other complications. Her funeral was held at the late home Thursday, Dec 10. Her pastor, Rev. T. T. Davis, officiating. Burial in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery.
The departed was a faithful member of the Congregational church and was interested in all religious work, loyal to her friends and greatly beloved by those who enjoyed her friendship.
