Gertrude Mary Riley, 87, formerly of 42 N. Jefferson St., died Tuesday morning at Carthage Area Hospital's Skilled Nursing Unit, where she had been a resident since October.
Mrs. Riley and her husband, Edward, owned and operated Riley's Dairy Bar on Bridge Street from 1968 to 1984.
Born March 26, 1921, in Malone, daughter of Abraham and Mary Bigness Disotell, she attended rural schools in Beartown and Carthage.
She married Edward L. Riley on July 11, 1942, at the Carthage Methodist Church with the Rev. William K. Bradshaw officiating. Mr. Riley, a former supervisor at Crown Zellerbach Corp., Carthage, died Sept. 1, 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Balser, Midland, Pa.; two sons and their wives, James F. and Doris and Randy L. and Jayne, all of Carthage; two sisters, Anna Farr Clement and Marion Bigness, both of Carthage; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Patricia Ann Zehr, died April 3. Three brothers, Abraham, Clarence J. and Lawrence Disotell, and two sisters, Myrtle Disotell and Isabell Larget, also died before her.
A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. The body was cremated.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
