Dr. Vernon F. Snow, 73, of 6216 Royal Birkdale, Jamesville and Marco Island, Fla., died Wednesday at home.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he moved to the Syracuse area in 1974. He earned a bachelor's degree from Wheaton College, a master's degree from the University of Chicago and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. He retired in 1992 after 18 years as a history professor at Syracuse University. He was trustee of the John Ben Snow Foundation & Memorial Trust. He was a former member of the Limestone Tennis Club, a member of the University Club of New York City, a former trustee of Clarkson University, Wells College and Le Moyne College, and a past member of the board of trustees of the Syracuse Rescue Mission. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Battle of the Bulge.
Survivors: His wife, the former Elizabeth Sears; a son, Jonathan L. of Grand Blanc, Mich.; a brother, Howard of Spooner, Wis.; two grandchildren.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse University. Burial, Pulaski Cemetery.

Vernon F. Snow, 73, of 6216 Royal Birkdale, Jamesville, and Marco Island, Fla., died Wednesday at his Jamesville home.
Mr. Snow was a former trustee of Clarkson University, Potsdam, and trustee of the John Ben Snow Foundation and Memorial Trust, which was established by his uncle, Pulaski native John Ben Snow, to provide funds for educational, cultural and community projects for Pulaski and many surrounding towns.
Projects funded by the trust include the construction of the North Oswego County Health Building, scholarship programs at Clarkson and St. Lawrence University, Canton, the establishment of a weather station at Pulaski Academy, the development of the School Press Institute at Syracuse University for high school journalism students and teachers and the John S. Haldane Memorial Arena, Pulaski.
Mr. Snow was a history professor at Syracuse University for 18 years, retiring in 1992.
Born Nov. 25, 1924, in Milwaukee, son of Howard M. and Violet Stalker Snow, he moved to the Syracuse area in 1974. He earned a bachelor's degree from Wheaton College, a master's degree from the University of Chicago and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Battle of the Bulge.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse University. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fairchild & Meech Funeral Home, DeWitt.
