Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, July 27, 1915 The Oswego Daily Palladium - Oswego, New York - Scriba, July 27 - Mrs. Lucinda Slater Russell died at the home of her son, Jesse Russell, 173 East Oneida street, Oswego, on Wednesday, July 21st, at 5 p.m. She was the daughter of the late Brayton and Philena Slater, of Richland, where she was born eighty-one years ago. She was one of nine children, five girls and four boys, she being the eldest of the family. Her brothers are Fred W. Slater, Sandy Creek; Alleb B. Slater, Lake Geneseo, Wisconsin; Lewis R. Slater, Los Angeles, California, and Veeder, Oswego. Her only sister now living is Mrs. David M. Dean, Scriba, the other sisters all having passed away before. She also leaves besides her son Jesse and his five children, another son, John A., in Richton, Mississippi, who has one son. She lived near Daysville in Richland, a good many years ago. She was twice married, her first husband being the late John Russell, of Richland. Her second was the late Charles E. Russell, New Haven. She was a devout member of the M. E. Church, in New Haven, and a member of the Ladies Aid Society in the church, and also belonged to the W.C.T.U. Her late husband being a soldier, she was a member of the Relief Corps. She leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. H. Wallace, of New Haven, besides a large circle of friends to mourn her loss, for all who knew her loved and respected her.
