- Known as "Pug" Harold was born and brought up in Mexico, New York. He was employed by Card & Coniff of Camden before entering the Army on December 21, 1942. He received his basic training in Jackson, Mississippi and then was transferred to Camp Davis, N.C. and later Nashville, TN. He completed a three month course at Bell Telephone Laboratories In New York City and left for overseas duty on November 21, 1943. He was stationed in England until after D-Day when his unit moved into France in July 1944. He received a certificate of Merit for service in France from July 16, 1944- 14 January 1945
