Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, February 21, 1956 The Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Lewis S. Trumble, Former Richland Road Chief, Dies - Pulaski - Lewis S. Trumble, 80, former Richland Superintendent of highways, died late Sunday at his home on Broad Street, after an illness of several weeks. He was born August 20, 1875, at Sandy Creek, son of Hiram and Jennie Can Trumble. While he was a baby, the family moved to a farm on the Scenic highway in Town of Richland. He resided on this farm until 1927 when he came into this village to reside. On June 27, 1894, he married Lillian Ross in Pulaski. Mr. Trumble was a farmer most of his life. From 1923 to 1937, he was superintendent of highways of the Town of Richland. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and noble grand of the local lodge, No. 648, at one time. He was also a member of the Pulaski Grange and of the Congregational church. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Myron Burghdorf and Mrs. R. J. Murray, both of Pulaski; and Miss Marian Trumble of Syracuse; two sons, James of Fulton and Louis of Pulaski; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Foster funeral home, with the Rev. Cyrus Gonigam, Congregational church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Willis cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
