- POTSDAM NATIVE LAWRENCE C. HAYWOOD DIES

Lawrence C. Haywood, 55, formerly of Potsdam, died Saturday evening at United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, where he had been a resident since August. He had been ill with lung cancer.
The funeral will be at 8:30 p.m. today at the Garner Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Hendershott, pastor of St. James Church, Parishville, officiating. Spring burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hopkinton.
Calling hours will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg.
Surviving are nine brothers, Gary and Terry, both of Potsdam, Gene, Dale, Kevin and Floyd, all of Altmar, Richard, Ogdensburg, Robert, Canton, and Darryl, Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. David (Sharon) Horning, Parish, and Mrs. Arnold (Sally) Bump and Mrs. Gene (Zona) Oakes, both of Altmar, and several nephews and nieces.
Born in Potsdam on Nov. 15, 1938, a son of Earl C. and Kathleen Gorey Haywood, he attended Campus School.
Mr. Haywood was disabled all of his life.
