Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 30, 1891 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died - In Pulaski, New York, April 23, 1891 Rebecca U., wife of George Gurley, Esq., aged 69 years. Mrs. Gurley had lived with her husband, who survives her, about eighteen years. She was greatly beloved. The deceased had been a member of the Baptist church for more than fifty years and in most excellent standing both financially and spiritually. It has often been said of her that "she was such a good woman." She was a good wife, a good mother, a good councilor and consequently her Christian life was greatly to be praised, so far as man can judge. She was born in 1822, was one of eleven children, nine of whom survive her. She follows four children heavenward and leaves one son. Great was her faith in God, and she especially delighted to converse on that subject. When speaking of the blessing that came to her church this winter, she said that it seemed like a shower direct from heaven in answer to prayer, in which she believed with all her heart. She is missed not only by her immediate relatives, but is mourned by all the members of her church and the whole community. The whole world suffers when a believer passes away, but what is our loss is her gain. God took her home at last.
