Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, April 7, 1937 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Roy Austin Dies After Short Illness - Many years in Meat Business - Funeral Tomorrow - LeRoy D. Austin, 52, well-known businessman of this village, died in University Hospital, Syracuse, Monday night a few hours after being admitted there. Mr. Austin was stricken at his market Saturday morning and removed to his home on Salina Street. Pneumonia set in and Monday afternoon he was taken to the hospital in the Foster ambulance. Mr. Austin had been engaged in the meat business in this village since he was a young man just out of the Academy. For several years he was associated with his father, the late Albert F. Austin, in the business, later his brother-in-law, S. J. Cross, joined him under the firm name of Austin & Cross. With the dissolution of the firm some years ago, Mr. Austin continued the business as sole owner. Mr. Austin was born in Ricard May 11, 1885, the son of the late Albert F. and Emogene Worthy Austin, and came to this village with his parents when a young child. He attended school and grew up here, and has been identified with the business activities of the village all his life. He was a member of the Methodist church and of Pulaski Lodge, I. O. O. F. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Paulena Moody Austin, one son, Robert Moody Austin, and one sister, Mrs. Samuel J. Cross, all of this village. The funeral will be held from the family home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, with Rev. W. A. Gardner, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial in Pulaski cemetery.
