Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, September 26, 1946 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Masonic Rites For Edmund Brown - Edmund Brown, 79, lifelong resident of Pulaski and vicinity, died at Oswego hospital Thursday morning. He was taken ill about a month ago and had been hospitalized for the past ten days. Masonic funeral services were conducted by past district deputy grand master William A. Prescott assisted by William T. Jackson, senior warden of Pulaski Lodge No. 415, Saturday afternoon from the Taylor funeral home, Pulaski, by Rev. James M. Pauley of the Methodist church. Burial was in Pulaski cemetery. Mr. Brown was the son of Edmund Brown and a descendant of the first Pulaski settlers. His great-grandfather, Benjamin Winch, built the first structure in 1806 on the site of the present Randall hotel, a log cabin used as a tavern. It is coincident that Mr. Brown made the Randall hotel his home for the past few years. His ancestors accumulated real estate holdings between Pulaski and Lake Ontario, and at one time the family owned practically all the land on the north side of the Salmon river. For many years Mr. Brown operated a farm on the Lake road, now known as the Lilley farm, and upon his retirement, made his home in California before returning to Pulaski. All of his life he had been active in Masonic circles. He received a 50-year membership medal from Pulaski Lodge, No. 415, F. & A. M. He was also a member of Pulaski Chapter, No. 279, R. A. M., Lake Ontario Commandery, No. 32, Knights Templar, Oswego, and Media Temple, Mystic Shrine, Watertown. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Brown of Montana, and a niece, Mrs. Katherine Conway, Oswego.
