FIVE YEAR OLD BOY VICTIM OF LEUKEMIA - The funeral of George Merton Spicer, five-year-old son of Mr. & Mrs. Carl Spicer, who died Monday night at 11:30, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 pm from the home in Lathrop Street. The boy had been very ill for nine months with leukemia. George Spicer was born March 4, 1933 at Antwerp. He has been a resident of carthage for about five years and was a cradle roll member of the United Christian Church. He is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Spicer; three brother, Keith, Richard and James and his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. George Spicer of Gouverneur and Mrs. Minnie Shampine of Champion Street. Rev. Frederick Homrighouse, pastor of the United Christland and Presbyterian Churches, officated at the funeral. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.
Per John Spicer he is buried on the Washington Street side near a small hill. This may be near the Shampine lot.
