Dale Rockel, 55, of Pond Hill, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Nanticoke on June 9, 1958. He was the son of Shirley M. and the late Dale F. Rockel. Dale owned and operated Rockel's Garage. He was a dedicated fireman with the Pondhill-Lily Lake Volunteer Fire Co., where he was acting fire chief for 33 years. He was president of the Mountain Top Mutual Aid and president of the Luzerne County Fire Chiefs Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Regina (Jean); his mother, Shirley; their children, Melissa and her husband, Douglas Krauss, and their children, Anna and Tyler, of Culpeper, Va.; Dale Jr. and his wife, Tiffany, and their children, Dale II, Levi and Garrett, of Pondhill; his brother, Emil Carver, of Pond Hill; brother-in-law, Joseph Horn, and nephew, Adam.
Funeral services are entrusted to the care of the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Bruce Novel, family friend, presiding. He will be laid to rest with firemen's rites in Pond Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
