- Newspaper Obituary - Erie Times-News, PA, Mon, 15 Oct 2007 - June E. Sprake June E. Sprake, 83, of 2314 Sassafras Street, died Sunday, October 14, 2007, at Saint Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on August 29, 1924, daughter of the late Joseph and Christina Brown Hughson. She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. Mrs. Sprake worked at the Lutheran Home both as a nurse's aide and a dietary technician for 18 years. June was also a volunteer at the Lutheran Home for 12 years and was always there for her family and her friends. Her greatest joy was helping other people. She was a former member of the Delaware Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Later she became a member of Summit United Methodist Church and formerly sang in the choir there. She loved watching her grandchildren wrestle, and was an avid football fan and follower of the Cleveland Browns. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sprake; a sister, Elizabeth Grubbs; and a brother, Willis Hughson. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Sprake and his fiancee Fran Donetelli, and Richard Sprake and his wife Debbie all of Erie; two daughters, Christine Sprake and her husband Terry of Edinboro, and Diane Cornelius and her husband Dennis of Waterford, a sister, Nancy Smith of Rochester, N.Y. Further survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Road, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Vincent Pomeroy officiating. Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
