Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 5, 1908 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Saturday evening, at half past nine, Albert Harmon Maltby, a life-long resident of this village, sank into the rest his tired body longed to embrace, for he had been painfully afflicted with disease and pain for some weeks. Mr. Maltby was born in this town the 14th day of September, 1827, and the whole of his nearly 81 years have been spent in his native town, and most of that long life has been spent on Lake street where he died. Mr. Maltby had been an active businessman, engaged in building and mechanical work up to within the past five or six years. He was twice married, his first wife being Helen Doane, from which union issued three children, a son, Bernice, who died in young manhood, a daughter, Lettie, who died in childhood, and Flora, who died in young womanhood. His second marriage was with Mrs. Mary Murdock, who survives him, also a grandson, Fred Maltby, of Wisconsin, two brothers, R. R. Maltby, of Washington, Kentucky, Chauncey Maltby, of Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Brewer, of La Porte, Texas, and Mrs. Alfonso Houston, of Wisconsin, and a half-sister, Mrs. Rose Trumble, of Sandy Creek. Early in life Mr. Maltby united with the Congregational church and at the time of his death was the oldest member on the roll, having been connected with the society over fifty years. For many years Mr. Maltby was a leader in the choir and in every way stood by the church and assisted in a manner which showed his love for the institution. The funeral will be held from the home this afternoon at four o'clock, Rev. J. B. Felt, of Newark Valley, who was Mr. Maltby's pastor for nine years, will have charge of the service.
