Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, May 22, 1974 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Elmer W. Babcock, Local Florist, Dies - Elmer W. Babcock, 67, of 7666 North Street, Pulaski passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 19 at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown. He had been taken to the hospital after work on Saturday. Born on February 23, 1907, Mr. Babcock was the son of Robert and Laura Wilson Babcock. He graduated from the Pulaski Academy in 1927 and took floral training in New York City. He was married on December 8, 1946 to Florence Sheldon at Camden, New York he had owned and operated Babcock's Florists ever since 1938. Mr. Babcock was a member of the Pulaski Baptist Church; Pulaski Lodge 415 F. & A.M. and the Media Temple at Watertown. He was a past commander of the Lake Ontario Commandery; past high priest of the Pulaski Lodge 279, Royal Arch Masons; and a member of the local Chamber of Commerce. He was passed noble grand of the I.O.O.F., No. 648; Salmon River Encampment 31 and the Rising Sun Rebekah Lodge No. 49 I.O.O.F. He is survived by his wife, Florence Babcock who is employed by the Oswego County Office of Civil Defense. He is also survived by several cousins. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Jerry Miller, of the Pulaski Baptist Church officiating. Burial in Pulaski Cemetery. On Monday of this week members of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodge paid their respects. On Tuesday, local and area Masons attended.
