    • Russell Briggs, of Wyoming, formerly of Nanticoke, died suddenly Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at his home after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.
      Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Russell and Mary Briggs. He attended Nanticoke Area schools.
      He went to work as a weaver at several area silk mills, spending most of his career at American Silk Mill, Plains Township, for more than 25 years.
      He was a member of the Nanticoke Primitive Methodist Church.
      He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting with his son. He was a loving, simple and honorable man who faced life with his deep faith, courage, strength and humor.
      These values he lived with he instilled in his family. He loved and adored his family, but held a special place in his heart for his greatest joys in life, his grandchildren.
      He was preceded in death by son Edward Briggs, brother Ray Briggs, step-mother Florence “Dolly” Crouse Briggs.
      He is survived by his wife of more than 45 years, Helen Briggs, of Wyoming; daughter Donna Kultys and her husband, Stan, of Swoyersville; granddaughters Brandilyn and Morgan; sister Mary Housington, of California; brothers Thomas Briggs, of Glen Lyon, Lloyd Briggs, of Nanticoke, and Omar Crouse, of Berwick; several nieces and nephews.
      Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
