    • Retired Dairy Farmer Frank Roach, 86, Dies

      Adams Center- Frank Roach, 86, of County Route 63, died at 2:30 pm Wednesday at his home.

      The funeral will be at 1 pm Saturday at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

      Calling hours will be 7 to 9 pm Friday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Sackets Harbor Rescue Squad.

      Surviving are four sons, Frank G, Watertown, Thomas J, Goodells, Mich, Judson E and Weston R, both of Adams Center; two daughters, Gay M Skiles, Brandon, Fla, and Beverly Busto, Watertown; 36 grandchildren, 53 great- grandchildren and one great- great- grandson.

      Two sons, Darrell and Hugh, and a brother, Joseph, died before him. Twin children, Gerald and Geraldine, died in infancy.

      Born on May 23, 1908, in Watertown, a son of Thomas and May Sagriff Roach, he attended the Little Red School House in Watertown Center.

      Mr Roach was a busboy at the former Hotel Woodruff, Watertown, and was once employed by New York Central Railroad and at the muck gardens in Middletown.

      He married Marvel Golding on Nov 7, 1927, in Sandy Creek. She died Nov 1, 1965.

      After his marriage, he was employed on the farms of Hugh Golding, Ellisburg and Scott Carpenter, Butterville.

      The family moved to Depauville in the late 1930s, where Mr Roach operated a dairy farm and worked part time for Frink Sno-Plow, Clayton, and Pine Camp.

      In April 1945, he purchased his residence and farm on County Route 63. He sold the farm on County Route 63. He sold the farm in 1973 to his son, Judson. After retiring, Mr Roach was employed at Westcott Beach State Park and did carpentry work.
