- Online Obituary - Thursday, May 17, 2001 - MARIE CORCORAN - Marie Corcoran - May 16, 2001 - Marie G. Corcoran, 86, of Plains Township, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in the Hudson section of Plains Township, she was a daughter of the late William and Genevieve (Kennedy) Mattick. She was a 1931 graduate of Coughlin High School. She was a pianist and performed on radio and stage shows in the 1930s. She was a co-founder of the Corcoran Funeral Home, Plains Township. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains Township, president of its Altar and Rosary Society, and also president of the Catholic Women and secretary of the Plains Senior Citizens Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh W.; and sisters, Genevieve McGilloway, Regina Gavin and Gertrude Sheridan. Surviving are her daughters, Marie Spagnuolo and Ellen Corcoran, both of Plains Township; sons, Hugh, Jr., Jenkins Township; Michael, Carverton, Kingston Township; Raymond, Harrisburg; and John, Plains Township; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Theresa Egan, Bear Creek Township; and Dolores Dohman, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Plains Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to the Plains Ambulance Association, 126 N.
