    • Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, March 27, 1928 Wilkes-Barre Times Leader - Mrs. E. E. Wharton - Mrs. Emily Elizabeth Wharton, aged 74, of Scranton, mother (sister?) of George Cotton, of South Grant street, this city, died last night at her home of complications. Mrs. Wharton who was the widow of Simpson Wharton, well known mine forman for Hudson Coal Company, had a wide circle of acquaintances in this city and had returned to Scranton last week after a visit here with her son. She is survived also by a daughter, Mrs. R.B. Hadley, of Scranton and a sister, Mrs. Rose Colving, of Staten Isalnd, N.Y. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
