- Newspaper Obituary - Monday June 14, 1915 Wilkes-Barre Record - Wilkes-Barre - Miss Verna Cotton Dies - Miss Verna Cotton, aged 21, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Cotton, a junior at Wellesly College, died Saturday night of diabetes, at the family home, 186 South Grant street. Her condition did not become serious until Thursday, although she was forced to remain from college during the past winter on account of her ill health. Miss Cotton was born in Parsons, in 1894, and came to tthis city with her parents when a baby. She attended the public schools and in 1910 graduated from the local high school, where she was an active member of the Sorosis Society. She took two post-graduate courses in high school and in the fall of 1912 entered Wellesley College. She was also a member of the Grant street Presbyterian Church and Sunday school. Besides her parents she is survived by two sisters, Alma and Edna, and one brother, Elwood. The funeral will take palce from her home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. Services will be conducted at the home by Rev. J. B. Craven, pastor of the Grant street, Presbyterian Church. Burial in Hollenbeck Cemetery.
