- Watertown Daily Times (NY) - Saturday, April 3, 1999 Neltje Emma Bellinger, 80, Springbrook Apartments, died Thursday at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego.Mrs. Bellinger and her husband, Donald H. Bellinger Sr., owned and operated Bellinger's Truck Stop and Pine Diner, Mannsville, for more than 20 years.Born Sept. 27, 1918, at Orwell, daughter of Foster and Anna Cobb Thomas, she graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1937 and the former Newcomb Beauty Academy, Watertown, in 1939. She worked in beauty shops in Takoma Park and Silver Springs, Md.She married Mr. Bellinger on March 28, 1941, at Laytonsville, Md., with the Rev. Dillon B. Groves officiating.The couple retired in 1970 and moved to Glenfield. In fall 1995, they moved to Sandy Creek. Mr. Bellinger died Nov. 22, 1995.Mrs. Bellinger was a member of the Lowville American Legion Auxiliary and was secretary of the Springbrook Tenants Association.Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ira (Donna) Learned, Lacona; two sons, Donald H. "Dan," Pulaski, and Stephenson R., Sandy Creek; two sisters, Ruth Crossett, Pulaski, and Arline Clifford, Orwell; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Three brothers, George, Lacy and Carl Thomas, died before her. A grandson died in 1989.A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 10 at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Roger Bell, pastor of Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.
